In
I Peter 3:15 we read: “always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason of the hope that is in you, with
HUMILITY and fear, having a good conscience…(that) those who speak evil of your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed.” Paul told young Timothy that
“a servant of the Lord must not quarrel, but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in
HUMILITY correcting those who oppose…” (II Timothy 2:24,25)Nothing closes the minds and hearts of an unsaved person faster than an arrogant, “know-it-all” attitude. Just having the right answers doesn’t automatically open any doors, our manner of presenting that information must be in genuine humility. It is only by God’s grace that we have come to know and understand the truth, we have no right to be proud or condescending in any way. Pride usually leads to an argumentative attitude, which is forbidden in scripture, “a servant of the Lord must not quarrel.” We are not trying to win a debate, we are trying to win souls for Christ. Don’t be disqualified with an “Attitude Penalty.”
